For nearly 20 years, the Box Shop has been a collaborative art studio and maker space for professional artists, volunteer art groups, and creatives of all sorts. It has been home to hundreds of artists and projects over the years, but we’ve been in hiding! With India Basin development planned, we are beautifying the Box Shop for all to see!
Our goal is to cover every exterior surface of the shop with new art. Each installation is made by local artists who are being paid for their amazing work. We are currently fundraising to be able to hire more artists and support our local arts community. How To Donate
If you would like to make a tax deductible donation or utilize corporate matching, you can have the payment made out to “SomArts Cultural Center” with “Box Shop Mural Project” in the memo line. Checks can be mailed to:

All donations to the project are tax deductible and eligible for corporate matching, if your employer offers it. Each $1000 donation will go directly to cover the costs to create one mural:
-- $500 to pay the artist for their work.
-- $300 to buy materials and craft panels, prep the space and install completed work.
-- $150 for administration, outreach, and documentation - a portion of which goes to our non-profit fiscal sponsor, SomArts.
-- $50 for signage
