TOTEMIC is a series of three illuminated corten steel towers featuring custom slumped glass. Rising 10, 11, and 12 feet tall, the slender 12-inch-square forms incorporate warm orange and green glass, abstracting the colors and vertical rhythms of the apricot trees that are part of Los Altos’ agricultural history.

Nearby, two 18-inch-square seats extend the same material language with integrated bands of illuminated glass. Interactive heart-rate sensors invite visitors to place their hands on the sculptures, synchronizing the internal lighting with their heartbeat and creating a subtle connection between the visitor and the artwork.

STRUCTURE

The towers are constructed from corten steel, which develops a rich, stable rust patina as it weathers. Thick panels of custom-slumped colored glass are integrated into the steel forms and illuminated from within by LED lighting, creating a shifting presence from day to night.

TOTEMIC is currently being fabricated at The Box Shop in San Francisco and is scheduled for installation in Los Altos in late 2026.
