ABOUT SQUAREDNV 

SQUAREDNV was commissioned for temporary public installation in downtown Reno’s “Neon Line” district by the developers, Jacobs Entertainment. The artist, Charles Gadeken, is a San Francisco artist who has created numerous large-scale artworks for festivals and public display. A dedicated group of volunteers helped to create SQUARED in 2014 for Coachella and Burning Man.

SQUAREDNV was installed in July 2019 for a 2-year extendable contract.
The lights on SQUAREDNV run from dusk till dawn with pre-set programs, which will be updated throughout the year. At the opening and closing celebrations and various times throughout the year, the public can control the light patterns through an interactive touchscreen interface.

ABOUT SQUARED

As featured recently in The Wall Street Journal and Sculpture magazine, SQUARED is an abstract tree of gigantic proportions, the product of a futuristic world post-nature. The cubic form and fractal arrangement of 3D light pixels represent the evolution of organic matter and its amalgamation with digital technology. This monumental artwork reflects the universe of complexity, mystery, and serendipity that defines our journey through time and emergence into the future age.
SQUARED was built in 2014 with funding from Coachella and Burning Man through the efforts of dozens of volunteers. In 2017, SQUARED was featured in a 6 month “Art of Burning Man” exhibit at the Hermitage Museum and Gardens in Virginia. In 2018-2019, it graced the Hayes Valley public greenspace in San Francisco for one year as SQUAREDSF.
