Sea Star fire pit

Many nights on the cold stretch of Ocean Beach, you will see the flickering light of bonfires, warming groups of friends and families out listening to the waves. They makes s'mores, tell stories, and watch the flames, huddled around a giant Seastar that keeps them safe from the fire and brings them a little closer to the sea.

A SeaStar is a large heat-resistant concrete fire pit, custom designed for a beach environment. Each SeaStar weighs approximately 3000 pounds and measure 8'x8'. SeaStars have a custom concrete design mix, specifically made for ocean conditions and high temperature fire.

The SeaStars are tried and tested public artwork-- they're safe, can hold the fire, and are a public-proved sculpture. There are currently 4 SeaStars installed on Ocean Beach that have taken the stress of the public, the sand, the sea, and the salt. They remaine a beautiful public sculpture that is used every night to light up the beach.
