Pneuma
To stand before Pneuma is to stand before an awesome display of life force. From the stamen, the anatomical origin of the life of the flower, burns a bright dancing vortex of fire leaping into the sky. The life pulses through the stem, lighting a glow of energy through the leaves. The fire of life burns through the flower and reminds us of the powerful energy that animates all life forces.
Pneuma is a 12’ tall active fire sculpture made of copper, brass, aluminum, steel and stainless steel flower sculpture, resting on three large leaves. Flame effects include, a rotating fiery stamen, a vortex effect and hot blue flames running down each leaf spine. All of the effects are operator controlled from inside the barricades. Pneuma can run for three to five hours. The flickering rotating stamen flames comes out of schedule 40 steel NPT pipes wrapped with stainless steel wool. The vortex flame flows straight up through the center of the stamen and rises from 4’ – 10’. The hot blue flames on the leaves rise out of a hardened stainless steel tube, capable of taking extreme heat conditions without distortion. Flames are controlled by 2 ¾” redhat solenoid valves.
